Constellations
What is a constellation?
|
Many people are familiar with the term Family Constellation, but this is just one type of constellation, and there are various ways to approach or organize it. A Constellation is a therapeutic tool used to provide clients with deeper insight and clarity about a particular situation or issue they are facing.
When the issue relates to family dynamics, a Family Constellation can reveal hidden patterns, unresolved conflicts, or dynamics that may not be immediately visible. These unseen dynamics can often be at the root of difficult family relationships, and bringing them to light can help the client understand and navigate their challenges more effectively.
However, constellations are not limited to family matters. The same approach can be applied to any kind of relationship or situation, such as those involving colleagues, clients, or friends. This is where we use what is often referred to as a Systemic Constellation, focusing on work environments, friendships, or other social interactions. By examining the dynamics within these systems, it becomes possible to gain insights into challenges or misunderstandings that were previously unclear.
Constellations can also be used to address more abstract or complex situations. For instance, a Situation Constellation might explore an illness, a business dilemma, or any problem that the client is struggling to find a solution for. In these cases, different elements of the situation are represented and explored in the constellation, allowing the client to see connections, obstacles, or influences they may not have been aware of. This broader approach enables clients to gain a new perspective and work towards resolution in areas where they previously felt stuck.
In summary, constellations, whether focused on family, relationships, or complex situations, are powerful tools that can illuminate hidden dynamics and provide clients with the clarity needed to make positive changes.
From time to time we organize a family constellation separately as a workshop of an afternoon, evening and sometimes a full day.
Please do read the following segments carefully as we explain a few crucial details and requirements.

There are 3 ways we do this:
1 - The most known way of organizing (family) constellations is the In Person Group Constellation. This one requires for a group f people to be present in the same space: the client who requested the constellation, the representatives who will be representing the client and the different family members, and the guide who leads the process. Details in the next section.
2 - Another more easy method is the Drawing On Paper Constellation. Here the client does not even need to be in the same room as the guide. This can be done by video call. The client only needs a piece of paper and a pen or some color crayons. Details in the next section.
3 - There are more methods that can be used to get to the same results. They are derivatives of the two previous methods and can be both in person or remotely. The guide will suggest one of them when in talk with the client if he feels that it could be more beneficial for the client.
1 - In Person Group Constellations:
Family constellations is a tool that we use when we feel it's needed to give a client more clarity in his or her situation.
A family constellation can revile relationship dynamics that are unclear or even invisible and therefore difficult to deal with.

The client:
Life is not always what it seams. Sometimes the nature of relationships (for example within your family) are in-explainable. Nothing you try works. Then a family constellation can bring you clarity. The client contacts us to request a family constellation and we we asses the individual case and agree on the terms. |
As it is important to have enough representatives available and because we do not have a database of potential representatives, we do request the client to also look for some representatives (reed below more about representatives).
The Representatives:
All you will need to know to represent will be explained to you at the start of the day. There is no need for a specific preparation, just come wearing comfortable clothes and go with the flow. When you participate as a representative, you're requested to let go of your thoughts and control. When representing you simply feel and let go of the rest. This is when the person you are representing at that moment can communicate through you intuitively.
|
When representing you may experience the emotions of the person you are representing and who will be requested to express them.
Participating as a representative will bring you several benefits. These may differ per person. But one this is for sure: if you are attending you are there for a very good reason: for example that you need to learn something new or that you will get some insights.
2 - Drawing On Paper Constellation:
For this type of constellation the client and the guide can latterly be at opposite sides of the globe. A a video connection is perfect for this one. For an optimum result the client will prepare himself by having the following ready:
The setup as detailed above is to facilitate the process. Different colors help distinguish between the characters on the paper, especially when being emotional. Good lighting also helps with this. The water is to stay hydrated and the tissues can com in handy when emotions surface. The phone support (when not using a laptop or desktop with webcam) is to still be able to see each other while being in the process.
3 - One On One Constellation:
When the guide is in talk with the client, he can suggest an alternative way of organizing the constellation. This will depend on the circumstances like distance, the reason for the constellation and other criteria related to the client.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or if you would like to be notified when a next family constellation will be organised by us.
